Inventive Futures Revisited: Ben & Stu from Creature
As part of our 40th birthday celebrations, CR revisits the alumni from our almost 30-year Creative Futures program. Here we talk to the creative duo Ben Middleton and Stu Outhwaite-Noel, which were introduced in 2005
Advertising creatives and CCOs Ben Middleton and Stu Outhwaite-Noel met at Bucks New University about 20 years ago and have been creative partners since then.
Her first joint venture was with the London-based advertising agency Mother. After securing full-time positions, the couple worked every hour and created work aimed at breaking the rules. In 2005, two years after the agency's life began, one project in particular caught the attention of CR and led to the duo being included in the Creative Futures program.
The project was a campaign for Observer Music Monthly Magazine. "It was called From Abba to Zappa and contained an alphabet of musicians and bands from all eras inspired by Dick Bruna," said Middleton and Outhwaite-Noel. “Apart from the Russian girl duo Tatu, we think it is still there. It is probably one of the best things we have done and attempts have been made to maintain this standard for the past 15 years. "
