Shortlist for the WaterAid Artwork Prize introduced
Cindy Salim
While hand washing has become an essential part of public precautionary measures in response to Covid-19, three billion people around the world still do not have access to home hand washing facilities.
As part of a campaign to encourage the world's leading companies to invest more in water and hygiene, artists were invited to interpret these issues creatively for WaterAid's ArtA Change competition.

Out of 285 submissions from around the world, the designs were narrowed down to a shortlist of 12, selected by artist Grayson Perry, illustrator Jean Jullien, photographer and artist Aida Muluneh, and actor and art collector Russell Tovey.
The shortlisted artists took the subject in a variety of directions, from more literal interpretations emphasizing the importance of clean water to ideas of community and togetherness. The final winner will be determined by a public vote ending October 10th.
