Nightmares on wax mark 25 years of Smoker & # 39; s Delight with a brand new movie

Created to celebrate the groundbreaking album's re-release earlier this year, the entertaining short film was apparently inspired by a real-life dream of Nightmares on Wax & # 39; George Evelyn

For those of us of a certain age, Smoker & # 39; s Delight sits alongside a number of landmark 90s albums including Portishead's Dummy and Massive Attack & # 39; s Blue Lines, which sum up the sound of a specific period in British history.

To honor its importance, Warp released a special new edition of the album in April of this year for the anniversary and this week an EP with four new bonus tracks – including the new tracks Let & # 39; s Ascend and Aquaself as well as an alternative funk mix of Dreddoverboard and a live recording of Nights Introlude at the Concord Music Hall in Chicago in 2014 – is here.

Rather than venturing down the route of a nostalgic documentary to celebrate the album's 25th birthday, Warp instead hired director Jamie Whitby to create this amusing short film that tells the story of a young stoner, Tiger, trapped in a dream and must play a role his way out, detective style. Along the way, the short film also reminds viewers how great Smoker & # 39; s Delight remains.
