Find out how to edit paid social adverts

Despite your best efforts, and no matter how good your team is, mistakes in paid ads are inevitable. Marketers and content creators alike can refer to the struggle to correct grammatical errors or an accidental gaffe to avoid further embarrassment.

To solve this problem, you need to know how to edit paid social ads.

4th Reasons for Processing Paid Social Ads

I've published a lot of social ads in my career and I can tell you that knowing how to handle paid ads is a relief. You can often easily correct minor errors and recover from possible failures.

Well worth the effort. Here's why.

1. Typos can turn the audience away

Typos, misspellings, or incorrect grammar can all cause ad viewers to leave negative impressions of your brand. You may look at these mistakes and ask yourself, if this brand isn't interested in something that seems as simple as typing errors, grammar, or spelling, what doesn't they care?

Knowing how to edit paid social ads can fix these issues and prevent ads from being ignored.

2. Poorly worded ads can lower conversions

Marketers and designers spend a lot of time planning and designing ads to generate conversions. Unfortunately, we cannot always turn our expectations into reality.

Bad formulation can sometimes be an experiment in what works and what doesn't. In this case, some ads will exceed expectations, but others will produce dismal results.

But how things are worded can also be downright confusing. If you're not getting the conversions you expect from an ad, have someone look at it with fresh eyes to see if it makes sense.

To make sure your ad isn't wasted, you may need to change your Caption, Image, or Ad Targeting options.

3. Clipped ads need to be fixed

Another possible mistake is placing a long link description or carousel card. This could result in important information being cut off on social media platforms like Facebook.

To avoid this scenario, you can keep your ads short and to the point. You can use a preview to see if an ad will be cut off before it is published. You can also look at the character count requirements before you start writing.

4th Successful ads can be activated with small changes

If you are creating a hugely successful ad campaign, you can edit the end date or increase your budget. You can also make minor changes to increase the overall impact of the ad. Be careful though, because "if it's not broken, don't fix it". No need to upload again or start over when editing.

How to Revise Paid Social Ads

Popular social media platforms usually offer PPC marketers the option to edit paid social ads. However, the step-by-step process may differ depending on the platform you are using.

The following sections describe the steps you can take to change paid social ads on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other platforms.

How to edit paid social ads on Facebook

Facebook Ads Manager allows users to edit parts of an active ad, but not the entire item. However, if you want to repeat it all, it's very easy to remove and publish a new version with the same basic information and changes required.

If you are facing this current dilemma, here are some ways to edit existing social ads.

Step 1: Go to the Ads Manager and go to the Ads section.

Step 2: Check the box next to the ad that you want to change.

Step 3: Click the Edit button.

Step 4: You need to disable the ad. This is a relatively straightforward process. In this example we are using an ad that is currently active and not editable.

Under "Use an existing post" in the Ad Manager, switch off the ad you want to edit.

Step 5: After the post is inactive, you can make the necessary adjustments.

Step 6: In addition to the text, you can also make the following changes in the side area:

  • If you'd like to edit your headline, delete the current one and replace it with your preferred name in the appropriate field.
  • If you want to change your page, please select a different page from the drop-down list.
  • If you'd like to change a video or picture, click Edit in the Ad Design section and choose Select Media. Upload your preferred video or image file and click the "Next" and "Done" options when finished.
  • If you want to change the specific placements of your video or picture, navigate to the placement group where you want to make changes.

Step 7: If you're happy with the changes, return to the Existing Post section (in Step 2) and post your edited ad.

And one last note about Facebook ads, you can post them directly to Instagram when you create them on Facebook. No two separate ad campaigns are required – unless you want to go that route.

How to edit Twitter ads

The Twitter Ads Editor is used to manage and optimize campaigns.

Unlike most social media advertising platforms where you stay entirely on the website, the information about Twitter campaigns is contained in a table. You can download and re-upload the spreadsheet to make changes to your ads.

To access and edit your Twitter ad campaigns:

Step 1: Sign in to your ad account, go to the Tools drop-down list, and tap Ad Editor.

Step 2: Find your campaign by specifying the campaign goal or date. Another option is to enter the campaign name in the search bar.

Remember, if your selected date range is incorrect, you will not find the campaign.

Select "Export" to download the table.

Step 3: Open the table.

Each campaign usually has one line. However, campaigns with multiple ad groups are represented by more than one line.

The headers provide descriptions of what each column controls, what formatting requirements apply, and whether this part is optional or required.

Step 4: Make the necessary changes on the appropriate line. For example, if you want to change the campaign start date, go to column D and change it.

Not everything is editable: you cannot change the funding source or campaign goal. You will need to create a new campaign if these changes are required.

LinkedIn offers a variety of sponsored ad formats such as carousel image ads, video ads, single image ads, and single job ads.

Sponsored ad content is usually created through the campaign manager and is referred to as "direct sponsored content". The types of changes you can make to your ad depend on the type of ad.

In general, you can edit display names and introductory text in all types of LinkedIn ads.

In addition to these features, you can also edit the destination URL, ad image, heading, description, and call-to-action (CTA) for single-image ads. You can edit the headline, CTA, and destination URL for video ads. There are limited editing options for single ads and carousel image ads.

How to edit paid social ads on Instagram

Instead of editing Instagram ads, you'll need to delete your current ads and resubmit the edited version. But as with Facebook, it's a pretty straightforward process.

As you mentioned in the Facebook section, you can of course also just run one ad on Facebook and apply it to both platforms. Using both platforms for your paid social ads can save you time.

However, if you want to focus on Instagram and need to revise a sponsored post, here's how:

Step 1: Visit your Instagram profile.

Step 2: Select "Promotions" (as shown in this sample campaign).

Editing YouTube ads in the Google Ad Editor is relatively easy.

Step 1: In the campaign structure, select the account with the campaign that you want to change.

Step 2: Select "View". You can then choose the appropriate option based on your ad group format:
