John Lewis publishes quirky posters with illustrations by Marc Burckhardt

The poster series offers an unexpected take on some of the world famous views of Edinburgh by artist Marc Burckhardt, with iconic views like Arthur & # 39; s Seat, now adorned with a giant armchair, and the Ross Fountain wrapped in giant lipstick was transformed by Yves Saint Laurent.

Each redesigned landmark references one of the newly renovated elements of the John Lewis Shop, from the Beauty Studio to the World of Design, where stylists can assist clients with renovations at home, to the newly renovated Nursery Service, where parents seek advice can.

Burckhardt is known for commercial assignments for Gucci and Porsche as well as for his editorial assignments for magazines such as Rolling Stone and Time.

“I love the idea of classic landscape views and the element of surprise when I come across something unexpected – an approach that I want to bring to all of my paintings,” says Burckhardt. "I have tried to focus on these beautiful but familiar views that resonate with the people of Edinburgh and hopefully appeal to both their sense of history and their sense of humor."

The Edinburgh Store posters arrive the same week that a new adam & eveDDB TV spot for John Lewis is released. Directed by Francois Rousselet, the spot focuses on everyday home scenes, which in our strange new world include haircuts and home work, as well as more permanent scenes like television.

With a soundtrack of the minute waltz by Barbra Streisand, the spot presents the various scenes as mini-films with titles and at the same time manages to get a blatant product placement from the new Anyday series off the ground.
