Celebrating counterculture tales
"Sometimes what we publish has no home anywhere else," says Nina Hervé, co-director of Rough Trade Books. "They are stories that I think should be told and are important to be told, and they are ideas too."
Over the past two years, Rough Trade Books, under the guidance of Hervé, has published a number of brochure editions covering a wide variety of genres and topics – Jarvis Cocker talks about Brexit, Chilly Gonzales celebrates Enya, and Jen Calleja explores the importance of goblins, just mentioning some.
Well-known names meet aspiring writers who often appear together on the same series. And what holds it all together is Rough Trade Books' celebration of the counterculture, which Hervé sums up as "anything that is not mainstream is more of an independent spirit".
