CR's collection of the highlights of the Pageant of Advertising and marketing 2020

While we had all hoped that life would return to some sort of normality by this point in the year, as it did with so many events in 2020, the Festival of Marketing had to move to an online format. But that has many advantages – while the usual two-day festival format in London would only have been available to those who could do the live event, now more of you dear people from all over the world can tune in.

The virtual version of FoM will take place next week October 5-9 and has a range of content that can be viewed or viewed live as needed. If you work in marketing in any form, be it on the customer side or as an advertising creative, there are plenty of food for thought. Here is a selection of the Creative Review panels and lectures that you shouldn't miss:

For those of you who are looking for an insight into the customer-agency relationship, Creative Review is offering a full day of content this year for the first time at FoM with the overall theme of creative effectiveness. As part of this, you can see conversations from Nils Leonard at Uncommon and Rufus Reynolds at ITV (see above) about how they work together to create campaigns, including Britain Get Talking; a panel to measure creative effectiveness; and a discussion on how to build an effective in-house creative team.

It also publishes open opinions on a panel that aims to discuss some truths about the challenges of creating great work today. These include panelists such as Hermeti Balarin from Mutter, Vicki Maguire from Havas London, Cheryl Calverley from Eve Sleep and Sam Southey from Coty.

Elsewhere, there's insights into how marketing and brands can respond to climate change in a panel with writer and director Richard Curtis, Fabrice Beaulieu from RB, and Tanya Steele from WWF. In addition, Russell Parsons, Editor of Marketing Week, Patagonia's Director of Marketing Europe, Alex Weller, will interview about the brand's commitment to responsible values.

For those of you who like a starry name, there are plenty on the agenda too, as the BBC's June Sarpong talks about diversity and inclusion, Elizabeth Day talks about failures, Gina Miller gives insight into leading through adversity and Nile Rodgers about five Creativity speaks for decades. If you like strong opinions, Mark Ritson from Marketing Week has ten years as a columnist for the magazine.
