DR.ME celebrates a decade of nice design with a brand new monograph

Ryan Doyle and Mark Edwards first met when they were forced together during an icebreaker challenge after starting the same course at the Manchester School of Art. Little did they know that a few years later they would run an extremely successful design studio together.

Still based in Manchester, DR.ME is known for its outward-looking approach to creativity and the ability to constantly move with the times.

For the studio's 10th birthday, Doyle and Edwards decided to create a 600-page volume to celebrate how the two friends were able to build a successful independent design business from the ground up.

"We always talked about writing a book that focused on our work. When the decade came in sight a few years ago, it snowballed from there," says Edwards.

“We see it as a deep insight into the inner workings of an independent art and design studio, but also into what we are as people, friends and creatives. It is an examination of our collaborative work practices, concepts, influences, secrets, things we have learned, our failures and successes from something that has been our life for 10 years. "

Flip through the pages of the book and you will notice not only the distinct personality of DR.ME, but also the variety of work that the practice has built up over the years. Projects featured range from 365 days of collage to books, exhibitions and stage designs, record sleeves and apparel for a range of creative clients.

Alongside these projects, there are interviews with the influencers and staff Doyle and Edwards met along the way, including artist and designer Mike Perry and Young Turks-Harry Styles creative director Molly Hawkins.

The book's apt title, Not Dead Or Famous Enough Yet, was published by the studio's new publisher itself and inspired by a publisher who told them that a retrospective would never work because they weren't any of those things. It looks like they're going to be proven wrong.
