eight reflections on the best way (thank god!) Into 2021
With Thanksgiving behind us and the winter holidays approaching, I am reminded that we are approaching 2021 – a year that for many of us couldn't come fast enough. We have come a long way in the past few months, and managers, communicators and employees have bent over, faced the challenges and shown great strength as we settled into our "new better", as one of my colleagues in her classic says optimistic.
In the coming weeks, many people will step back from work for a few days or a week and take much-needed time to relax and spend time with family. In our house this means family game evenings, watching anime with our girls Avi and Noa and baking our favorite recipes for the holiday. A side note – Grandma Elsie's pumpkin chiffon cake is no longer just for Thanksgiving!
Preparation for the coming year
Stepping back is easier when you take the time to think, celebrate, and make plans for the New Year so you know that when you return, you can get started right away.
When you get a complete picture of the year, here are some food for thought to ponder:
- What are you most proud of?
- Where did you show grit and perseverance?
- What did you learn?
- What have you lost and missed?
- Where was change for you a true and unexpected positive?
- How are you doing better than at the beginning of the year?
- What work needs to be done this year to get strong?
- What planning can you make for 2021 to prepare for success in light of your insights?
Let us know how we can help reflect and plan for 2021. There's a lot that can be accomplished before much-needed R&R.
Most importantly, who would you like to share these considerations with? And how could your thoughts turn into thanks and appreciation for those around you?
