What could be more awkward than looking at the document you approved or the email you sent and finding a bunch of obvious typos?

Fortunately, these days there are a number of great spelling and grammar checkers that you can try.
A popular spelling and grammar checker is ginger. In this article, we're going to take a look at Ginger and review its pros and cons and find out if the tool is right for you.

There is a lot to consider when proofreading software. You need to look at what operating systems the tool works on, how accurate the tool is, and what other bells and whistles are included.
After all of this, Ginger is an excellent tool. It might not be the best on the market, but it's pretty good at almost everything and is cheaper than most of its competitors. There is also a great free version that will give you a great look at the tool. For many, the free version could be enough!

Features and integrations of ginger
Ginger has a lot of features that more expensive competitors have, like a Chrome plugin and a mobile app. Actually, I'd say Ginger's app is better than Grammarly's. It's bespoke while the grammar app feels like a mobile version of their website.
You get more than just the basics that you get with a Ginger account. They have a number of other important characteristics. Listen:
- A sentence reformulator That gives you plenty of opportunities to change your writing. For example, if you write the same email for a few days in a row, but you want it to sound a little different, the sentence repeater has a number of synonyms, idioms, expressions, etc. that you can use in your work to give it a different mood.
- A text-to-speech app that will read your work for you. If you enjoy reading your work out while editing, you'll love this feature. The app can read your writing to you so you have time to take notes and make changes.
- A "personal trainer" That has lessons tailored to your common mistakes. For example, if you use too much passive language, your activities will focus on that.
- A "change all" function If you want Ginger to approve all of the proposed changes at once. After approving them, you can deselect any false positives or deliberate writing decisions. This allows you to write faster because it can take a while before you click Approve for every small change.
One thing Ginger doesn't offer is a decent web editor that guides customers into using add-ons and a desktop app instead.

Ginger's design and user experience
I don't know what it is, but there seems to be a huge quality gap when it comes to the user experience with editing tools. Some are completely seamless and appear pre-installed on your computer, while others take so long you could almost head to the library, find a dictionary, and figure out the spelling yourself!
Ginger is high on the list somewhere.
The user interface takes a bit of getting used to, but once you've played around with it for five minutes it becomes clear. Ginger's user interface works well with WordPress too. So if you write on a blog or other website you will get plenty of it.
How much does ginger cost?
Ginger has a pricing package that meets the standard for software. There is a limited free version and pricing plans that are either monthly, yearly, or biennial plans, with monthly costs decreasing depending on the length of your subscription.
As you can see from the picture, Ginger was making a sale when I took this screenshot so the price may go up. Every time I've checked prices over the past few months, the selling price has stayed the same – maybe I'm just lucky. . .
Now, the $ 20.97 monthly price seems super high, and it is. Ginger wants you to sign up for either the annual plan or the two-year option instead of signing up monthly and possibly leaving after a month. As a consumer, however, this is a win-win as the $ 7.49 per month for the annual or $ 6.66 per month for the two year option is a good price.
However, I would look at Ginger's free option first as it has many of the core features you might be looking for.
What's great about ginger?
Now we've looked at what Ginger has to offer. Let's look at the benefits of the platform.
Unlimited premium usage
Once you've paid for membership, you can use Ginger on an unlimited number of devices. That means you can easily use the tool on your phone, tablet, PC and work computer.
There is no limit to the number of corrections you can make. You can filter a novel by Ginger every day, and with ease.
Is ginger accurate?
I've used a ton of tools like ProWritingAid and Grammarly, and I didn't really notice much of a difference between what Ginger does and what a tool like Grammarly does in terms of spelling and grammar checking. ProWritingAid still has both of these requirements for the number of writing style tests it offers, but if you're not a fiction writer, Ginger will give you accurate results throughout.
Translation!
When you consider that only twenty percent of people around the world speak English as their first language, it is strange that most writing tools don't offer translation services.
If you have a premium account, you can translate up to sixty languages (forty if you have the free version). You can also translate large plates of text which is great. In addition, Ginger will even pick up errors in the foreign language.

What could be improved?
Ginger has a lot going for it, but no tool is perfect. Here are some things that I think could be improved.
Commentary on Ginger's translation service
For starters, I've seen customer comments suggesting that Ginger's translation service is basically just Google Translate (which isn't known for quality). Now I don't know for sure as I don't speak enough languages to test it out myself. Just something to watch out for.
Advanced reporting is poor compared to competitors
While Ginger's basic coverage is great, the advanced coverage leaves a lot to be desired.
For example, when you go into Grammarly's web editor, you can choose which writing style you use and what audience you are writing for. This selection greatly changes the suggestions the software makes to help you write. This bespoke list of suggestions means you will get plenty of suggestions, all of which are highly relevant.
However, with Ginger, advanced reporting is also fairly generic. This makes it a great tool for making your work readable, but it won't make it great.
No web editor
Speaking of the web editor, I know I've touched on him before, but Ginger's lack of a web editor is annoying. You won't realize how often you use your ProWritingAid or grammar web editor until you switch to Ginger and type "www.gin-" before you remember that there is no editor.
I can't imagine that this would be a daunting task considering the skills that are already there. It is definitely something that could be improved.
Ginger Review: Final Thoughts
Overall, Ginger is a great tool for most web users. It's pretty easy to use, has solid spelling and grammar checks (even if advanced reporting isn't particularly good), and is in a very reasonable price range.
If you are an advanced writer or a fiction writer, you should check out a tool that better suits your needs, such as: B. ProWritingAid (read our ProWritingAid review here).
