Inventive collaborators: Frank Lebon and Molly Manning Walker

Next, in our series that explores what makes a successful creative partnership, we speak with Frank Lebon and Molly Manning Walker about the all-important dynamics of director and DP

Whether you're making a low-budget music video or a blockbuster film, all productions have one thing in common: the focus is on collaboration. This goes for every role from producer to production designer, but one of the most important collaborations on the set is undoubtedly between the director and the director of photography.

Frank Lebon and Molly Manning Walker are prime examples of the successful relationship between director and DP. They've worked together consistently over the past several years, from ads for Gucci and adidas to music videos for A $ AP Rocky and Mount Kimbie.

The duo were first introduced through a mutual friend after Lebon decided to enlist the help of a DP on a short film he was working on. “My really old friend Nat just got inducted into this school called the National Film and Television School, and I also heard that Molly was inducted into NFTS – two of the youngest people inducted that year. I just thought it was such a crazy coincidence that two people I knew got into this prestigious school at the same time, ”he says.
