Kara's essential on Artwork Route for every day information web sites
Haupt is the senior art director for NBC News, Today, and MSNBC websites. Here she talks about the importance of hiring and printing millions of viewers every day
As you scroll through news websites and click in and out of stories, it can be easy to discard the curation and aesthetic considerations that go into creating an article with pictures or a home page that includes both illustrations and photography were.
"I am absolutely thinking about how the artwork will look in all sorts of contexts, such as on the homepage. But try to remember that the homepage is a small part of the traffic. We also need to think about how this artwork is going to be in I think about all of these different places and try to specialize them in any kind of traffic contexts they might be in, "says Kara Haupt, senior art director at NBC News, Today and MSNBC Digital.
Haupt is based in New York and works on providing images on all three sites. She leads a team of photo editors, designers, and art directors to make anything possible. "I think we publish around 80 to 90 articles a day between the three brands," she says. "And so each and every one of these articles needs either a photo, an illustration, or a combination of both."
