The best way to Spy on Your Competitor's search engine marketing in 60 Seconds

Have you ever searched for a term on Google and wished your website was ranked for it?

They know that this traffic could change your sales, sales, and even your life.

But unfortunately that traffic goes to your competition. πŸ™

Well, today we're going to change that. I just released a new version of the Ubersuggest Chrome extension that will give you insight into your competition's SEO strategy so you can beat them.

Introducing the new Ubersuggest Chrome extension

I'm going to show you how to spy on and outperform your competitor's SEO, but first you need to install the Ubersuggest Chrome extension. It's quick and free.

Once you've installed it, you'll want you to go to one of your competitor's websites and click the "U" on your Chrome toolbar.

Clicking on it will give you data on every popular website.

Data is displayed on the right. More data is displayed as you scroll.

The reason I added this feature to the Ubersuggest extension is to give you better access to your competitor's SEO strategy.

That way, you can surpass them.

Let's take a look at each Ubersuggest Chrome extension review and how you can use them to outperform your competition.

How to outperform your competition

If you first click on the "U", the statistics for the traffic overview are displayed.

This gives you an idea if your competition is getting more traffic than you. If so, then you should consider copying their SEO strategy.

If it doesn't, you can still consider spying on and copying some of their SEO tactics. However, in general, focus on competitors with more traffic than you.

If you don't know how to find these competitors, I'll show you in a moment. First, let's explain how you can use the data in the Ubersuggest Chrome extension to increase your SEO traffic.

Once you find some websites that are generating more SEO traffic than you are, I want you to scroll down. You will see graphs listing the number of SEO keywords on the website.

The bigger the number, the better. Also, look for websites that continually find more keywords rather than fewer over time.

In other words, if you keep ranking on more and more keywords, you are doing something right.

Now scroll down a little further and you will see the top pages by country and the top keywords by country.

I want you to click the arrow next to the first result under Top Pages By Country.

It should look something like this:

This will give you an idea of the pages that are generating the most SEO traffic for your competition.

Clicking "See All" under each page will take you to Ubersuggest and learn more about the keywords that drive traffic to that piece of content.

You want to create similar content using the keywords your competition is using. The key, however, is to create content that is more detailed and thorough than what your competition is posting.

That doesn't mean you need more words. It means you need to be more thorough. This is what I mean:

  • Cover every aspect of the topic – If someone is reading your content and still has questions, you haven't gone deep enough.
  • Do not create multiple pages on the same topic – It is better to have a page that is very detailed than multiple pages on the same subject. Having multiple pages on the same topic confuses Google as it makes it harder for them to figure out which page to rate.
  • Use media to explain your message – A picture is worth a thousand words. So use pictures, audio, and video to explain your message. For example, if you had a blog post on tying a tie, adding pictures and a how-to video would be very helpful.
  • Focus on the user experience – Google optimized for users. So focus on users before you focus on Google.

With this Ubersuggest report, you will also see that it shows everyone who links to your competitor's article.

From there, you want to reach out to these sites and see if they are ready to link to your article which is better and more in-depth. You can use the outreach templates in this article to help you out.

Lastly, I want you to look at your competitor's keywords.

Scroll down the Ubersuggest extension and see the top keywords by country. Select the arrow for a country you might be targeting to see a list of keywords.

If you click "View Details" under each keyword, a detailed report on that keyword will be displayed.

You can view the last 12 months search volume, mobile and desktop search volume, click rate, keyword competitiveness, and lucrative CPC (CPC).

You can also view all of the keywords that your competition represents.

The above report has more ideas about keywords to target for your website. From there, you can take that list of keywords and create content around them.

How do you find your competitors?

If you are not sure who your competitors are, don't worry.

Just go to Google and search for keywords related to your industry.

You will see something that looks like this:

From there, go through the websites and look for people who are direct competitors. What I mean by a direct competitor is someone who is selling the same product or service as you.

News sites are not really competitors … general information sites like Wikipedia are not competitors … and even sites like Amazon, which sell everything, are not really competitors.

You have to look for direct competitors, people who are focused on the same product or service as you.

Conclusion

If you haven't tried the Ubersuggest Chrome extension, make sure you do. It gives you tons of data for free.

This way, you will get instant information about your competition and their SEO strategy. Essentially, you can analyze the data to get insights into any business in less than 60 seconds.

What do you think of the new Ubersuggest extension?
