The Caravelle beer model receives a graphic facelift

Barcelona Studio Hey has developed a new packaging for the craft beer range that uses playful geometric patterns and flowing shapes

The design studio Hey worked with the restaurant and the Caravelle brewery to create colorful packaging for its new selection of craft beers. The Barcelona-based studio had already partnered with Caravelle in 2017 to expand its first beer range and was again commissioned to refine the existing design system as the brewery moved to a larger location to keep up with demand.

The designs take up the names of every variety, from the sunset-inspired graphics for Grand Pacific Kölsch to the fluid layers on the Royal Milkshake IPA.

The packaging takes a geometric twist on the rest of the range. Pixelated bit graphics are applied to Galactic IPA, and a colorful striped design shows the Electric Relaxation XPA.

As the appetite for craft beer continues to grow, packaging design has become an essential part to differentiate brands from the rest of the herd and help them stand on the shelf. Since large international breweries are gaining a foothold in the craft market, graphic design will undoubtedly continue to play a central role in the implementation of "craft" in craft beer.
